For the purposes of these Terms of Use, the following terms shall have the meanings set out below:
The CR STR Compliance Toolkit is a privately researched, English-language reference guide designed to help foreign nationals and expatriates better understand the general regulatory landscape governing short-term rental (STR) operations in Costa Rica.
The Toolkit is the product of independent desk research conducted by InfoBites Research. All content was compiled by cross-referencing publicly available official sources, including publications of:
The Toolkit is best understood as an informed starting point — an orientation map to help you identify what questions to ask, which government portals are relevant to your situation, and what professional services you may need to engage. It is explicitly not a substitute for those professional services.
Nothing in the Toolkit, on the Site, or in any communication from InfoBites Research constitutes legal advice. The Content does not substitute for the advice of a licensed attorney (abogado) admitted to the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Costa Rica. No attorney-client relationship is formed between InfoBites Research and any User at any time.
Nothing in the Toolkit constitutes tax advice or tax planning guidance. The Content does not substitute for the advice of a licensed Contador Público Autorizado (CPA) or tax professional registered with the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica. No accountant-client or tax-advisor relationship is formed.
Nothing in the Toolkit constitutes financial or investment advice. Market data, revenue figures, occupancy estimates, and nightly rate information are presented for general orientation only and should not be relied upon for financial projections, investment decisions, mortgage applications, or business valuations.
References to INS policies, commercial rental riders, liability coverage, and insurance requirements are general summaries derived from publicly available INS documentation. They do not constitute insurance advice. Users must consult a licensed insurance broker (corredor de seguros) authorized by SUGESE for advice specific to their property, situation, and coverage needs.
Any references to residency status, DIMEX identification, NITE registration, or immigration categories are informational summaries only. They do not constitute immigration advice. Users must consult a licensed immigration attorney for guidance specific to their residency status.
InfoBites Research expressly disclaims the creation of any professional, fiduciary, advisory, or consulting relationship with any User, whether through purchase of the Toolkit, use of the Site, or any email or other communication.
Costa Rican tax law, permit requirements, insurance regulations, municipal codes, and platform obligations are subject to change by administrative decree, legislative action, or judicial interpretation at any time and without notice. While InfoBites Research makes reasonable efforts to keep the Toolkit current, we cannot guarantee that all Content reflects the most current regulatory requirements at any given moment.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Costa Rican law, including the Código Civil de Costa Rica and Ley No. 7472 (Ley de Promoción de la Competencia y Defensa Efectiva del Consumidor), InfoBites Research shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in any way connected with:
In the event that a court of competent jurisdiction determines that InfoBites Research bears any liability to you notwithstanding the disclaimers set forth herein, the maximum aggregate liability of InfoBites Research to you for any and all claims arising under or related to these Terms of Use, the Toolkit, or the Site shall not exceed the amount actually paid by you for the Toolkit (USD $99.00).
You acknowledge that InfoBites Research has set its pricing and made the Toolkit available in reliance upon the disclaimers and limitations of liability set forth in these Terms, and that these provisions form an essential basis of the agreement between you and InfoBites Research. These limitations shall apply regardless of the form of action — whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise.
